Midland Press Corporation Receives 2000 Print-On-Demand Innovation Leadership Award
Midland Press Corporation received a national award for Innovative Use of Technology at the 7th Annual On-Demand Innovation Leadership Awards on February 29, 2000 at the CAP Ventures Digital Printing & Publishing Strategy Conference in New York City.
The 7th annual awards honored the nation’s most innovative on-demand printers for unique and progressive digital print applications that have helped to advance print technologies and the printing industry as a whole.
Midland’s award was received for the unique in-line process the company has developed with the Oce print engine. The application extended the on-demand concepts to continuous feed non-impact print (NIP) – achieving speeds and versatilities previously unattained. This continuous feed NIP application is the first in the world to be created and, in addition to the continuous feed component, has a dual workflow concept with lock and load components for both in-line book block and saddle-stitch production workflows. These are unique and innovative combinations of in-line components.
Tom Sheehan, President of Midland Information Resources, commented, “We are excited to be recognized for this honor. We pride ourselves on being a leader in information technology and this proves that we continue to move our company in the right direction.”
Other winners in this category were Fort Dearborn and Argus Group. Last year’s winners in this category were the United States Postal Service, NetPub Corp., and iPrint, Inc.
